Pierre-Olivier Maquart (Ecology Department) has returned from Indonesia for a mission as part of the PHC Nusantara program at Campus France. He went there to study the recycling of organic waste by the Black Soldier Fly, a fly used to convert this waste into a source of protein (through the larvae that can be fed to poultry or fish) and a source of organic fertilizer (with the undigested substrate enriched by the larvae's excrement).

One of the objectives of the PHC Nusantara project, funded by Campus France, was to document local waste management practices through bioconversion using the Black Soldier Fly. Nearly fifteen production sites for these flies were visited in the Bandung region and Jakarta, Java (Indonesia).
