The DEEIT team contributed to a television report dealing with biological pest control.  It will be broadcasted on Arte the 11th of  october at 22h40 (rediffusion the following days on Arte +7). Nicolas Pollet (POLYGNOME) published in collaboration with colleagues an article reporting the synchrotron analysis of a mummified salamander dating from Eocene. This analysis allowed a phylogenetic analysis of the mummy: the fossil belongs to the pseudosaurian caudates.To read the article.

Paul-André Calatayud’s (DEEIT) team published an article in collaboration with scientists from ICIPE center which results open avenues on effects  of climate change on insect pest populations in east Africa. This article was the subject of a short publication on INEE web site.

Speciation is a rare phenomenon. Yet in Mayotte scientists (among them Jean David, IGGIPOP) described a population of D. yacuba drosophila feeding on the fruit of the Morinda tree which is toxic to flies on the african continent. This could provides the geographic isolation and the ecological specialization that are necessary to speciation. The article
