Thèmes de Recherche

Les insectes utilisent leurs neurones gustatifs afin de prédire la valeur nutritive ou toxique des aliments. Ils les utilisent également pour détecter des molécules liées à la communication sociale, sexuelle ou interspécifique.

Je m’intéresse au fonctionnement de ces neurones, et à l’évolution des récepteurs gustatifs et olfactifs en tant que facteurs d’adaptation à l’environnement.  Nous développons des approches (électrophysiologiques, comportementales, génétiques) qui nous permettent de caractériser la spécificité et la sensibilité de ces récepteurs à différents ligands. Plus généralement, je m’intéresse aux mécanismes évolutifs qui permettent une convergence entre la valeur adaptative des molécules et leur perception sensorielle.

Ces recherches ont des applications en protection des cultures (recherche de substances aversives contre les insectes, pièges alimentaires ou phéromonaux) et en élevage d’insectes pour l’alimentation (adaptation des insectes aux ressources biologiques disponibles).
