Cela s\u2019oppose \u00e0 la transmission verticale via la reproduction (au sein d\u2019une m\u00eame esp\u00e8ce). Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne est fr\u00e9quent entre procaryotes, c\u2019est d\u2019ailleurs l\u2019un des moteurs\u00a0 principaux de l\u2019\u00e9volution des g\u00e9nomes dans ces organismes. Au contraire, chez les eucaryotes, le TH de g\u00e8nes est rare, probablement en lien avec les diff\u00e9rentes barri\u00e8res devant \u00eatre franchies (Protection du g\u00e9nome au sein d\u2019un noyau, existence d\u2019une lign\u00e9e germinale chez certains eucaryotes pluricellulaires, n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d\u2019un vecteur). Pourtant, une cat\u00e9gorie de g\u00e8nes est caract\u00e9ris\u00e9e par sa transmission horizontale fr\u00e9quente\u00a0: il s\u2019agit des \u00e9l\u00e9ments transposables (ET). Les \u00e9l\u00e9ments transposables sont des g\u00e8nes mobiles et r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9s, pr\u00e9sents dans virtuellement tous les g\u00e9nomes. Ils peuvent se d\u00e9placer (transposer) au sein des g\u00e9nomes, et s\u2019amplifier gr\u00e2ce aux enzymes pour lesquelles ils codent. Il existe deux classes d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments transposables, qui diff\u00e8rent par le m\u00e9canisme de transposition, les \u00e9l\u00e9ments \u00e0 interm\u00e9diaires ARN ou retro\u00e9l\u00e9ments (Classe I), et les \u00e9l\u00e9ments \u00e0 interm\u00e9diaire ADN (Classe II).<\/p>\n<p>Nous avons r\u00e9cemment montr\u00e9 qu\u2019un grand nombre de TH d\u2019ETs s\u2019\u00e9taient produits au cours de l\u2019\u00e9volution des insectes, avec pas moins de 2248 transferts entre 195 esp\u00e8ces au cours des 10 derniers millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es. Ces r\u00e9sultats sugg\u00e8rent que les TH ont eu un impact d\u00e9terminant sur l\u2019\u00e9volution des g\u00e9nomes.<\/p>\n<p>De nombreuses questions concernant ces TH subsistent cependant. Par exemple, les raisons pour lesquelles certains ET (en particulier les \u00e9l\u00e9ments <em>mariner<\/em>) semblent transf\u00e9rer plus souvent que d\u2019autres ne sont toujours pas claires.\u00a0Par ailleurs, notre \u00e9tude \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle sur les insectes semble indiquer une plus grande fr\u00e9quence de TH entre esp\u00e8ces g\u00e9ographiquement et phylog\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement proches qu\u2019entre esp\u00e8ces \u00e9loign\u00e9es, mais ces tendances n\u2019ont encore jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 analys\u00e9es sur des groupes d\u2019esp\u00e8ces plus restreints.<\/p>\n<p>R\u00e9cemment, plusieurs g\u00e9nomes de glossines (La mouche Ts\u00e9ts\u00e9, vecteur de la maladie du sommeil) ont \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9quenc\u00e9s. Environ 25 % du g\u00e9nome est compos\u00e9 d\u2019ET, les 3\/4 des \u00e9l\u00e9ments de classe II sont des \u00e9l\u00e9ments de la famille <em>mariner<\/em>, et plusieurs correspondent \u00e0 des \u00e9l\u00e9ments miniatures non autonomes (MITE). Ce jeu de donn\u00e9es para\u00eet donc id\u00e9al pour affiner l\u2019estimation des taux de transfert horizontaux de ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments, et pour mieux comprendre pourquoi ils transf\u00e8rent autant entre insectes. En particulier, nous chercherons \u00e0 savoir s\u2019il existe des diff\u00e9rences entre diff\u00e9rentes sous-familles et diff\u00e9rents statuts (autonome ou non-autonome) d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments <em>mariner,<\/em> en terme de propension \u00e0 transf\u00e9rer. Cette analyse pourra aussi \u00eatre \u00e9tendue \u00e0 d\u2019autres groupes d\u2019insectes.
