The size of a gene family can be conserved or highly dynamic.<br \/>\nWe are interested in the fate of some gene families according to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>cooption into new functions,<\/li>\n<li>loss of functions,<\/li>\n<li>adaptive processes in which they are involved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Two major axes of research are explored within this framework:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Molecular and functional evolution
